11 Standard 4 Categories In Research

Today in the teaching profession, teachers are to follow specific guidelines. To be exact, there are 11 standards for educators to follow. These standards fit into 4 categories. The first category is Learner and learning which houses standard one through three. Standard 1 is learner development. Standard 2 is learning differences Standard 3 is learning environments. The next category is Content which houses standards four and five. Standard four is content knowledge. Standard 5 is the application of content. Category three consists of standards six through eight. Standard six is assessment, standard seven is planning for instruction, and standard 8 is instructional strategies. The last Category is Professional Responsibility. This category …show more content…
The teacher must be able to adapt to each student's diverse ways of learning. This will mean that the student who is visual and the student that is auditory will both have equal opportunities for learning. Teachers must make timely provisions. This requires making sure the pace is adjusted to allow the learner to reach their highest potential of growth. Instructions must be built on a student's prior knowledge and experience. A teacher must participate in the design and implement an IEP. An IEP is put in place to ensure a learner can reach their full learning potential. That IEP must be taken into account when making lessons plans. It is important for an educator to use strategies to employ positive behavioral intervention techniques for students with disabilities. He or she must be able to add in new approaches to educating and incorporate second language acquisition. This will ensure every type of learner is addressed and those who speak two languages are accommodated as well. It is important for the teacher to believe in their students and assist them.
