Social Media Argumentative Analysis

Social media has impacted today’s generation with extraordinary factors. I believe deleting your social media is losing your connection with your friends and family. Also, losing connection with today’s latest trends and out bursts. Completely whipping out your social media is not common sense. I can relate to those who can live without social media on certain levels, but I must have it. Now, I don’t believe you should connect with it 24/7, but you should at least use is it to connect with your loved ones thousand miles away. Following from that, there are many different reasons why you shouldn’t delete your social media. For example, Kim Lacapria, who wrote the article 11 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Quit Facebook in 2014, states fantastic points. A point she says that grabbed my attention is, “literally the first time in human history, everyone you know across all your life experiences is connected to you through the same place” (Lacapria 2014). This is aimed towards teen girls. These girls will scroll through their social media and come across a gorgeous super model. Then, they will go look at themselves in the mirror and they don’t see the same beauty. Because they see these beautiful women on social media, they can’t stand the fact that they don’t look like the. This leads them to delete their social media. An author Name Kelli wrote a paragraph that made sense. “So, I urge you, just because social media can and has been misused doesn 't mean you must delete your Instagram account. You don 't have to abstain from social media simply because some people use it to portray images of "not real life." Instead, choose not to follow inauthentic people. Use Instagram to bring awareness to social issues or simply to share pictures of yourself with your friends and family”
