• Each of the men were elderly, dilapidated, consumed alcohol, ate the same food in the same place on the same day. Each had come down with the same illness within then 30 minutes.
5. Organize the findings and develop a time line.
• The subjects were men, which had eaten oatmeal at the same place and began to get sick 30 minutes after eating. Although they developed symptoms and began to get ill at different locations. They were presented into the hospital with the exact findings.
6. Perform a descriptive epidemiology and develop hypotheses.
• The findings of the Eleven Blue Men, could be hypothesized that sodium nitrite was accidently placed in the salt shakers and used when the oatmeal was cooked. Although this was not a lethal dose used in cooking the oatmeal an additionally shaker was placed on the tables to be used by the customers. This combined with what was already in the oatmeal made it a toxic dose to those that added more salt to the oatmeal. Once the oatmeal was ingested and the customers went to different locations, the symptoms began to develop and caused an epidemic outbreak in this area.

Evaluate the hypotheses and perform additional necessary studies.
• Dr. Greenberg questioned the cook about the salt nitrite that was use in the oatmeal after finding out it was accidently switched for sodium nitrate. He asked the cook to duplicate how he prepared the oatmeal if he was using the correct salt. A portion of the serving was tested and discovered the content contain higher traces of nitrite even after it was cooked. This combine with the nitrite in the salt shakers on the table explained the toxic
