10th Class Reflection

A good year for me in 10th grade would be a year where I can feel as comfortable as possible in the classroom atmosphere. I am an introvert, which makes me very social with the people in the class that I do know, and I am able to meet and get along with new people. My main problem with this is that I get tired in social situations quickly, and if I have the choice to work alone, I will. I also have struggled pretty severely with social anxiety. I have been working on this with my guidance counselor last year and I see a therapist outside of school, but even with all this help last year I was accidently scheduled into an improv class and on the first day during introductions I became nervous and had a panic attack. I had actually wanted to take

She gives the class our first assignment which includes exchanging contact information and an informal interview. My small group of friends convinced me to go outside my comfort zone; I became more social and attempted to make more friends. Despite feeling cured, I converted back to my former habits into my isolated world. The beginning of the new semester resulted in various changes and adjustments to my class schedule; it felt like the first day of school repeated itself. Surrounded by strange faces, a friend awkwardly introduced me to the class; feeling lost, I struggled to make myself comfortable and familiarize myself with my environment all over again. However, after opening up, attending school became a less dreadful event.…

For my final portfolio, I chose to revise a shorter essay, “Potential Ramifications of a Trump Presidency,” and a longer essay, “Assignment 7: Finding Place Research Project.” I chose these two essays specifically because of their differences. The former is shorter, more informal, and includes more of my thoughts and opinions. The latter is a longer research paper, and thus is more formal and less biased as I attempted to give a brief history of gentrification and its impacts on East Liberty.…

I’ve been in school for about 11 years, every year is different, but yet the same. Because we are at the same school for years, it’s the same people, same school, and same everyday routine. Some years are better than others, but the overall best year that I’ve experienced is or was, 8th grade. The fun field trips to places, High School acceptance, and it’s the last year of middle school.…

I've posted your earned mid-term grades in English 111 on Banner and will be glad to discuss your situation with you individually sometime next week, if you'd like. These are information grades. As usual, knowledge is power: What the grade tells you gives you a chance to be pro-active in ways that might ensure your success in the course. A proper response to a mid-term grade is neither resignation nor smugness. Without my forcing the issue, the overall average at mid-term in my two sections of English 111 happens to be exactly 2.0 or "C," a reasonable outcome for a first-semester college course, one that includes several failures by students who simply quit coming to class and submitting the assigned writing projects.…

When I start my English 091 class, I had no idea of how to start a assay or how I could add some facts from any journal or other kind of information. Before this class I could say that I consider myself a terrible writer, I did not had a perfect grammar and neither a smooth writing. In many cases my writing did not make sense. Many times I just used to write whatever I had on my mind, sometimes I didn’t even plan before my final draft, I did not was organized . I have seen many improving things on my writing.…

This English 101 class has helped me in variety of ways in gaining and shaping skills in writing. I learned how do compose several types of essays including: professional, informal, casual, cause and effect, and argumentative and was given the format for writing these. Every week, the class was given one of these types of essay to write and throughout the class periods, I would start and finish them. I saw that if I outline these essays with key points of my topic before I officially being writing the first draft, an essay is not difficult to come up with. I would only have to include transitions, which I also learned, and maybe a few more sentences to make my ideas connect properly and flow smoothly.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

I was originally enrolled into a math 100 course that was to take place on Fort Rucker starting 11 Jan 2016. This class was a Tuesday and Thursday night class from 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm. I was informed that the class had been cancelled and they left me with the option to take the online Math 100 class instead. I accepted that offer and on 11 January 2016 I had complete access to the online course.…

In Honors Colloquium, I feel that what is working best is the way in which we are broken into groups. I feel that if it was attempted to teach the class as a whole and discuss as a whole not much would ever be covered. Mainly, due to not many people would participate and many would know that they could just brush off the class. However, in our groups, everything is more interactive and engaging. We are also expected and held to a standard of being prepared and ready to discuss reading in class, whereas in other classes you can get by without participating.…
