This paper will explain why I have chosen to review this particular book. I will explain how the book has made an impact on me and describe any changes I may decide to make as a result of reading this book. Specifically I will list two topics that were of particular interest to me, explain why, and provide examples of how my personal life or my practice may be affected.
Book
I chose the book 10 Minute Mindfullness: 71 Habits for Living in the Present Moment
(written by Barrie Davenport and S.J. Scott) because of the title. Personally I identify with the idea that we usually are in such a hurry to get to the next thing on our list, that we fail to experience anything “in the moment”. For me that means often looking back with sadness or

When I sat and thought about the days I get up at the last minute I realized this was true. I end up not having breakfast, rushing to work, and feeling rushed the entire day. It can be very stressful, and this is something I would like to work on. 10 MINUTE MINDFULNESS

Another topic of particular interest to me addresses how to get rid of the stress of your workday and actually relax and enjoy your evening at home. If you cant learn how to leave behind all of the stress it simply carries over into your evening but the authors recommend “a mindful transition from workday to home life” (Davenport & Scott, 2017). Davenpot and Scott refer to this as a “mini vacation for your mind”. This can be accomplished in whatever way works best for the individual, but should include a few minutes of quiet, deep breathing and some positive visualization or guided imagery (Davenport & Scott, 2017). I am interested in trying this because I have a really difficult time winding down after work and often feel that I don’t even have the energy to interact with any of my family.

Practice Application
I think this book has the potential to impact me personally in a positive way if I put effort into trying out some of Davenport and Scott’s recommendastions. If I can become more in control of my stress levels and follow some of these steps, it should carry over into my workday as well. I work in a very high stress environment for more than 12 hours per shift, and I think my performance will improve and become more enjoyable if I can make a ritual out of getting up early and being truly in control of my morning. There will still be high stress at work, but deep breathing during the day may help me handle my day in a more calm and efficient manner. I will change my after work ritual just a little to incorporate some deep breathing and positive thoughts before I get home. I am excited about trying out some of the recommendations in this book. Not only may they have a positive impact on me, but that can only impact my patients and coworkers in a positive way as

College is stressful for the majority- managing your time, then balancing out tests, quizzes, extracurriculars, projects, etc. The word itself creates mixed emotions of the unknown. From early on, it’s viewed as an exciting chapter in life until you reach the age of decision making, identifying your necessities, filling out applications, writing admission essays, and anticipating the possible letter of acceptance or rejection. In 2016, the book, Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be by Frank Bruni, an American journalist, gives a new perspective on a brutal and deeply flawed competitive path. He wrote the book after constantly hearing frantic conversations over where to attend college.…

Summary by Farrukh Shadzad MBA 2 – Evening Program I, before reading this book saw the movie, which motivated me to read the book as well. The name of this book is “The Pursuit of HappYness” written by Chris Garden. The two desires I had when beginning this book were: 1. That it would for the most part be the same story as told in the motion picture with a couple changes that were made for realistic impact - (like no Rubik's 3D square, no night spent in the tram restroom, and no appearing for the meeting shirtless and secured in paint, and so on... 2. That I would not care for Chris Gardner.…
