1 Peter

Clearly Peter wrote the book of 1Peter because in 1Peter 1:1 it states that he was the author. However, many scholars disagree with that statement. One of the reasons why scholars disagree with the fact Peter is the author is because scholars are convinced that Peter was not the author of the book because the author had to have an advanced knowledge of the Greek language and a formal education in philosophy, which is probably difficult for a Galilean fisherman. Another reason why scholars disagree is because they believe that someone did the writing for Peter. In 1Peter 5:12 it says “ With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. …show more content…
In 1 Peter 5:13 it says “She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, send you her greetings, and so does my son Mark.” In this passage, it says that Peter was in Babylon while he was writing this epistle. In 1Peter 1:1 it says “peter an apostle of Jesus Christ, to God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.” This verse states that Peter was writing to the Roman Empires in the Asian Minor who were under persecution for believing in God.This epistle was written to remind the Christians to stay in faith, although they are being persecuted for their beliefs. They should not give up on God because God is going to protect them. Peter reminds the Christians that being a believer in Christ isn’t simple , we are going to have a lot of trials that we have to face. While they are living they should not conform to the world, but live holy and set a Godly example. They need to trust in the Lord because he is with them always. Peter also reminds the believers that God loves them so much that he sent his one and only son to die for us. Since Jesus died for all of those who believed in him, we should be willing to do the same for
