1. Explain the importance of a thesis statement and its special significance in a position-based paper. A thesis statement is important because it summarizes the main point of an essay and states the authors position on a subject. A thesis statement has a special significance in a position paper because it tells the reader what side you are on and why you picked what you did by giving credible information. For example, I write a position paper about not using phones while driving. My thesis would have my stance, which is against using phones whiles driving and telling people why they should not from my research.
