1. Explain how you feel about your own health. Good? Bad? Things to do better? Things you do well?
I value my health and try my best to keep my body in great condition because it is the only one I have. I think I take good care of myself both physically and emotionally. I not only do things like regular exercise and eat well, but I also surround myself with people that don’t lower my self esteem and like me for who I am, not what I look like or how I dress. I have a few health problems that require extra help such as asthma, and severe food allergies. I always remember to take my medicines and carry my emergency epinephrine with me. I also have learned how to read food labels and listen to my body. This helps me know what is best for my body and feel good about my health.
2. Explain how the media affects your personal image of your body. …show more content…
Usually only when I am around people who keep up with media and trends. I might dress in different clothes even if they aren’t what I normally would wear to avoid any unwanted comments by others. More than the media, the stores and brands of clothes affect my personal image of my body. I have large leg muscles specifically my calfs because I dance a lot. When it comes to shopping for leggings or even regular pants, I will sometimes think my muscles are too big because the do not physically fit inside the pants that would be the right size for my waist. I tell myself that I am a fine shape and that my muscles are not too big, they are strong! I think companies and brands need to make clothes for all body types, not just people with small legs. In this way, the media affects my body image, but not in the same way it affects other. In general, I think the media would be a more powerful place if they were honest about the body shape and look of people instead of using photo editors to be unhealthily
