Keeping children healthy and safe is paramount as it is our duty as professional childminder to protect and prevent children from accidents and keep them safe all the time. Also, it is import to ensure that parents are happy with the service provided (Tassoni, 2007).
For the children to be safe it is important to ensure that home safety is kept to standard. Safety of children can be achieved if childminder maintains things in the right place and making sure that children cannot access kitchen during cooking. The safety can be put in practice by putting a baby gate in place (Riddall-Leech, 2015). Moreover, it is important to lock the cupboards and making sure they are no electrical wire that can be reached by children. It is essential that items

In Bathroom and toilet, cleaning product should be kept well away from the children. Moreover, spills and accidents should be cleaned. It is important to run cold water first when preparing to bath someone and making sure the water is not too hot (Riddall-Leech, 2015).
According, to health and safety act 1974, high standards of hygiene is important, e.g. good personal hygiene and washing hands all the time. Raw food should be kept away from dry food and always use the right colour code board when preparing food. Food should be kept in separate shelves both in the fridge and cupboards. This will help to avoid cross contamination and spread of infections. Always clean and disinfect floors equipment and toys regularly. Always wear protective clothing (gloves and apron) when dealing with faeces, urine, or blood. Kitchen and bathroom should be kept clean to reduce germs.
Childminder should have first aid training. This will help them if there an incident/ accident in their care and if there is any illness. They will know how to handle the situation. Childminder should be able to recognise illness and should be aware of any allergies to avoid any allergy
