To identify the unknown substance using physical and chemical property skills to figure out the correct suspect and retrieve the missing necklace.

Question:
How can the detectives successfully identify the correct suspect using physical and chemical properties?

Hypothesis:
If identifying unknown substances, using the chemical and physical property skills knowledge learnt, the unknown substance can be further be analyzed in contrast to other evidence to prove the innocence or conviction to the other suspects case.

Materials:
Safety goggles/glasses
1 bottle with the evidence white powder
1 CSI Kit that contains:
Water
Litmus paper
Iodine Solution
Vinegar
Eye droppers
Toothpicks
Spot plates

Procedure:
Describe the evidence white powder sample and write observations in the chart under “Physical Properties Description”

Testing the Evidence Power
Place a scoop full of the evidence powder into 3 wells on the spot plate.
Add a drop of water to one of the wells. Write down any observations that take place unto the chart.
Take a piece of litmus paper and dip it into the well that contains the evidence powder and water. Write down any observations that take place unto the chart.

These errors were encountered because of the natural human emotion of excitement and anticipation. This affected in using the proper ratios, because of this when executing the procedures, it was to be expected for some issues such as putting too much of the powder or water and not getting the right result (such as the viscosity or appearance) and experiencing a few differences and having to re-adjust or redo the procedure. To prevent these errors for the next lab, I will be responsible by making sure to read the instructions and fully understand the purpose and consequences and aim to make sure I am executing the procedure
