There are many different organizational settings in which librarians work. In this competency I will describe and compare organizational settings in which information professionals practice. While there are many different types of libraries, there are also other organizational settings which should be discussed. There are medical and legal facilities, community centers and other organizations which use similar skill sets when organizing and managing information. It is important to understand how different libraries and information settings are similar and how they are different from each other. I will discuss differences with regards to their governing policies, their relationships to parent organizations, their missions, funding structures,
