Many people would go to visit the doctor because of a physical or mental problem they come to face in their current life. Others would go to the doctor to just make sure everything is in order with their body and everything is functioning okay. False diagnostics of children is a huge industry for doctors prescribing such disorders like Bipolar syndrome, ADHD, ADD, and such. When children at a young age are exposed to such drugs for certain disorders the drugs may cause more health problems. Senior citizens are known to commonly be taken advantage of in many situations because they are older. It is sad to find studies that prove this fact true mentioned in The Huffington Post that one out of five seniors get taken advantage of. “Pain reliever propoxyphene, antihypertensive doxazosin, diphenhydramine, and the antidepressant amitriptyline.” (The Huffington Post 2012).
The pain reliever drug propoxyphene is so bad that it has been discontinued by the FDA due to the huge impact it has on the human heart causing electrical activity, opening of the valves, to be prolonged for longer than usual causing serious heart murmurs. Antihypertensive doxazosin has side effects causing coronary heart disease, or damage in the hearts major arteries causing heart attacks. Overall the doctors and physicians prescribing elders are making mountains out of molehills and only trying to take the money out of the poor innocent elder’s pockets. The scariest part is that this is not the worst statistic. “At least 30% of antibiotics prescribed in the United States are unnecessary”
