Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved the movie, Space Jam. The movie introduced me to Bill Murray (starring as Bill), to Danny DeVito (who played the evil theme park proprietor - Swackhammer), and of course to the the infamous Michael Jordan. I was so engorged in this sci-fi kids movie that I related almost everything to Michael Jordan and Space Jam. In school, I’d only buy Gatorade products, I’d constantly worry about what Bugs Bunny would think if I failed a test, or if switching from tennis to lacrosse was as detrimental to my career as Jordan making the 180 flip from basketball to baseball. To elaborate even further, my devoutness even correlated to my Christian roots, where I’d proudly recount my rendition of the famous “WWJD” (what would Jesus Do?) wristbands as a clever acronym for “What Would Jordan Do?” The movie, Space Jam was my jam and my pedestal of ethical behavior. Despite my earlier cultish adoration of the movie, the real reason why I will forevermore treasure Space Jam is because it was through the correction of interpreting Space Jam’s absolute truths that I was able to save myself from years of remorse from being apart from my best friend, Rivkah. My best friend Rivkah is just as much of a devout Jew as I am a Space Jam fanboy - she’s studying Middle Eastern Studies at Princeton, and I still believe Space Jam is the best sports movie of all time. Anyways, when we were both around 7 and 8, her father drove us home after a play date and for some…
