te-in-this-setting jog that people do. "Rex." He says formally, all the chill of Antarctica packed into his tone. "Noah.." Rex replies, trying not to let it sound like a question. Silence reigns for a long moment. The sounds of other people enjoying their food pop into the foreground. Still, neither boy speaks. There's this extremely awkward patch where Noah seems to be attempting to light Rex on fire by glare, and Rex is doing everything he can to avoid that intense gaze. The dam finally breaks when the pizza arrives and Noah starts screaming. Well, he yells until people start giving them looks - then he lowers his voice to a very upset conversational tone. It's mostly about Rex being a colossal jerk, not calling, not texting, yada yada yada. Then it just becomes rant after rant. Dang, can Noah rant - the short blond seems to love ranting - but it becomes easy to tune out the second Rex crams a slice of pizza into his mouth. Then, everything narrows down to him and his extremely, out-of-this-universe delicious meal, and he hears nothing else. It's not as though he would understand any of it, anyway. "You done inhaling the pizza?" Noah's comment breaks into his new-found heaven. In-between stuffing a sixth and seventh slice into his mouth, he looks up guiltily. "Um..." He swallows with difficultly. "Yes?" "Good." But Noah is smiling, so Rex knows the teen is simply teasing. Apparently, most of his anger is already out of his system. As well it should be, considering…

Qing destroyed the notion of Islam exceptionalism, the idea that Islam is different from the rest of religions, by allowing it into the empire. Meanwhile, rain magic had 2 main significance. To begin with, the belief of rain-making came to the empire in Xinjiang with the arrival of Turk-speaking nomads who brought the Yada (rain-making) stone and was naturally incorporated to Qing along with Islam. Yada stones were formed from the guts of animals that naturally take shape as time passed by.…

“Fuck the Nazis,” he said over and over again. “Everybody’s kind of a Jew anyways.” Borges wrote this super short story in 1946 called “On Exactitude in Science” (what?). In it, this fucking empire is so obsessed with maps or some shit that they make this huge ass map that is actually completely a 1:1 scale with the real world. It ends up being so big that it just covers the whole territory like a pelty moss of pubic hair. The map crumbles, yada yada yada, and you’re like, “Is this real life?” I…

At a young age, I was a good God-fearing Christian lad who prayed every night and went with my grandmother to church because my parents either worked or were too exhausted to go. As time went on, though, Greek Orthodox Church became less of a priority. Even my grandmother stopped going often, only on holidays. In teenage years, my mind became engulfed by science, girls, and making sure my hair looked alright. We moved away, no Orthodox Church within ~500 miles became my excuse for skipping the…

So I get it.... You hate Tennessee and can not stand to see us (finally) turning a corner and seeing glimpses of the "storied program" we grew up knowing and loving. All the social media post and flags flying gets under your skin.... I get it, I do... The reason I get it is that I often feel the same way...but about your team of course. Some more than others and I am almost certain, at least as far as my fellow Volunteer fans are concerned, they are all the same... Alabama, most definitely…

what name to call him. The use of the name Yahweh is significant in this passage because it established that the same God discussed in Psalm 139 is the same God who was with Moses in Exodus a time span of hundreds of years. This establishes God’s credibility and allows the reader to understand his unchanging and ever present nature throughout the bible. The second word of importance is the word know which in the Greek/Hebrew translation is the word yada. The word yada mean to know, to be know,…

Not wanting to make her job and life as it is, I went to my desk and sat down, waiting for everyone else to settle down. After about five minutes, kids started to sit down in their seats. After zoning out for a while the teacher announced that we were having some free time to interact with everyone. I shakily stood up at walk to the carpeted area of the…

melancholy, fear, and desperation, as well as exuberant joyfulness in becoming pregnant at 44 and delivering a long-wished-for daughter, genuine happiness, deep love – human and animal, wonderful, mutually rewarding friendships, and life-saving laughter – essentially, I’ve lived a “normal” life, running the gamut of emotions and experiences, likely echoed in the lives of millions.
