    The Butter Battle Book written by Theodor Geisel or better known as Dr. Seuss. Though this book of rivalry towns seems to be the main idea, there is an underlying political event this is based off of. This children’s book is written about the Zooks and the Yooks, two rival towns representing the USSR and the United States of America in the Cold War. Dr. Suess effectively persuades his readers of The Butter Battle Book is about the Cold War. Throughout the book, the point of view is a child who is a Zook, not to be confused with the rival town of the yooks. There is increased tension between these towns which are separated by a brick wall. Throughout the book the child is told a story by Grandpa, who was on duty to protect the town of the zooks, from the yooks. Through an increase in weapons by each town, eventually, the weapons became so strong, neither town wanted to risk using a bomb. One of the most impactful parts of this writing is based on the timing of when it was written, also why it was written. When it came to the Tripple Sling Jigger made by the yooks and the Jigger Rock Snatchum refuted by the Yooks represent the arms race between the United States of America and the USSR.
