    The Triumph of Death was illustrated by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, who was widely known for his depictions of large-scale landscapes filled with lively characters and scenes. Pieter was born in 1525 in the Netherlands and died in 1569 in Brussels, Belgium (Pieter Bruegel, the Elder). This painting was created in c.1562 – c.1563, during Bruegel’s Brussels Period of his own art.
