    Overcrowding in jails is definitely an ongoing issue nationwide. It is even a problem worldwide. Approximately 122 countries are at or above 100% prison occupancy. (Highest to Lowest - Occupancy level (based on official capacity). n.d,) I see this problem every day in our local jail. Our local jai just failed inspection because it was overcrowded.
