    2. On Saturday evening 07 April 2018 PFC Staples woke up from a nap at or around 2130. Once he got up he left off-post to attend to a house party with two civilian friends who reside in Fairbanks. The civilian friend’s names were Harley and Zaquan. He picked up his two friends off post who he had met at a previous house party within the first few weeks of being at Fort Wainwright. PFC Staples has been on post since 4 February 2018. The group proceeded to go to the party around the Farmer’s Loop road which turned out to be a bonfire where PFC Staples drank two bud lights and left after five to ten minutes. They had gotten a hold of a few girls at the Hookah Lounge at 3535 College avenue an approximate five to ten minute drive from the Bonfire site. While driving to the Hookah Lounge, is where PFC Staples acknowledged that his friend was carrying a registered and holstered weapon. PFC Staples was warned thorugh several safety briefs to avoid bonfires and acknowledged this when being interviewed. At the time of arrival to the Hookah Lounge at between 2330-2340, there was a large crowd of civilian males wearing red shirts, with possible gang affiliation. PFC Staples was wearing a white shirt. Upon arriving PFC Staples parked in one spot, but because of the crowd he proceeded to park elsewhere to drive away attention from his vehicle. PFC Staples and his friends picked up a female at the Hookah Lounge and stayed at the Lounge for no more than ten minutes. PFC Staples heard an…

“I don’t think you can really understand the South if you don’t understand barbeque—as food, process, and event.” Barbeque has been one of the quintessential foods of the South and especially North Carolina for over 300 years and one can find its wood-smoked legacy throughout the Old North State. In colonial Virginia, where barbecue is thought to have first been introduced to white settlers, slave-owners made the duty of cooking barbecue for slaves (this was also the case in South Carolina). …

generalization, the same types of affects have been taking place in North Carolina over the years. In doing some research about how this impacts our own state I have learned through the N.C. Department of Commerce’s 2016 Employer Needs Survey, more than one-third or 39% of respondents from among the 1,900 businesses surveyed across every North Carolina county concluded to have had difficulty in filling positions in the past year (Salamido, 2016). The fact that only one major massacre was required to activate this change demonstrates just how high the tensions were boiling. The election of 1900 passed quickly and ended with an overwhelming Democratic win, mainly because blacks and other…
