This gives the viewer an indication as to why the house in the background is being haunted by a demonic entity. This is not the only story this poster tells however, in ominous black letters it says “Based on the true Case Files of the Warrens”. This is significant not to just the plot of the movie, but the narrative the posters tells as well. The Warrens spoken of in the poster are referring to are one of the world’s most known and respected paranormal investigators. The two were a married couple who worked closely together on several hauntings such as Amityville, the Annabelle doll, The Haunting and Connecticut, the Perron Family and The Enfield Poltergeist. Together they claimed to have investigated over ten thousand cases and one of their most famous investigations of the Perron Family are the events that transpire over the course of the movie. This poster tells an effective story not just through its horrific imagery, but also the significance of the Warren’s input on the movie.
