American University Law School’s campus is beautiful; the classrooms are new, spacious, and sometimes well-lit. I was really excited to have the opportunity to sit in a real law school class amongst unrehearsed law students, which would give me an insight into the inner workings of a law school classroom. The experience was rewarding in more ways than one and it also reinforced my plans to attend law school. My expectations were unclear, as I had sat in a Torts class before, but this time I sat…
College is Not a Waste In the essay, “College is a Waste of Time and Money,” author, Caroline Bird states how college is not a good option for people. Bird says students are not being prepared for their jobs, aren 't guaranteed a better salary after college, and many more reasons why college isn 't important. Not everyone belongs in college, I agree, but it does have its benefits. I believe college is absolutely not a waste of money and time. It is expensive, but it returns so much more…
Being the first person in the history of my family to pursue a college degree, it took a lot of research and autodidacticism to learn the process of getting into college. The fact that my mother only made it to 5th grade and my father to 2nd grade, pursuing a bachelor’s degree was never something my parents envisioned me to accomplish. I was never raised with meeting educational expectations because they weren’t ever set in the first place. It wasn’t something I envisioned for myself either,…
Growing up my family was poor, but my parents ensured that my siblings and I always had what we needed, and continuously supported us as we grew and tried to follow our dreams. Although neither of my parents obtained a college degree, they understood that education was important and constantly encouraged us to take an interest in our school work. When I was six years old my mother married my stepfather, who adopted me and raised me as if I were his daughter. I was excited to finally have what I…
Personal Development Analysis: Gilligan’s Theory of Women’s Moral Development and Baxter Magolda’s Theory of Self-Authorship Introduction Reflecing on my intellectual development, as well as my journey to self-authorship, in regard to my educational journey, I have found that the theories that resonated the most for me were Gilligan’s Theory of Moral Development and Baxter Magolda’s Theory of Self-Authorship. In order to describe the ways in which these theories related to these educational…
Each professor has a different experience but they all show the importance on creating and keeping a global community. Also, all of these professors have more than 10 years of experience in teaching. Therefore, the result of this small study may not be relevant for adjunct professors, community professors, or professors who are just starting this career. Also, in this sample, all of them experienced traveling abroad, thus this results may not apply for professors who did not traveled abroad.…
A quote attributed to Mother Teresa says “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples”, this statement speaks to my passion for pursuing a counseling doctoral degree. My goal is to change the stigma both externally and internally in the mental health profession. As it takes only one stone to make multiple ripples to create a beautiful change in a body of water, I plan to be another stone for change in the mental health community. Just as a…

Did you know that Yale was the best school to go to for lawyer? Most people do but if you didn't know now you do. The next step i found out that i have to do is develop good reading and writing skills over time. Then i need to attend…
At Davidson, I want a deeper understanding of economic phenomena and training in rigorous reasoning skills to be able to study social policy issues. I want to explore the many research opportunities available at Davidson college. One of the projects done recently “A Theoretical Analysis of Behaviour with Reciprocity and Fairness Concerns”, excited me as, presumably, it assumes human behaviour in the Rawlsian sense as opposed to in the Hobbesian self-interested sense. Along with my economics…
