Vectors are Proven in a 2015 Water Balloon Lab Not only do people not know what a vector is, but they also do not realize that vectors are used in everyday life. Vectors include magnitude and direction, without one or the other it would not be a vector. Several components make up a vector; these items are displacement, velocity, acceleration, and force. By finding the components one can find the horizontal velocity, vertical velocity, initial velocity, and maximum height. Physic equations can be used to help solve these problems. One important aspect that is known to affect vectors is an angle. Angles can help create and show the results of a vector, especially if something were to be released in place of that vector. Physicist in training analyzed and manipulated vectors to see the results they can have on things. As any scientist or researcher, a lab is the best way to have hands on experience and to create an opinion on the subject. Labs that can create this type of effect would be shooting a water balloon out of a slingshot. As it may not be mentioned much, water balloons being released by a slingshot is a great example of vectors. Many problems can occur when doing experiments like these, some problems may include measuring distance incorrectly, measuring angles incorrectly, and timing incorrectly. Vectors can be ignored and looked over very easily because of their “non-importance”. Almost all vectors help determine several things in an experiment that could include…

but also in learning about myself and who I am? According to Webster’s dictionary, education is defined by the development and training of one’s mind, character, and skills, as by instruction, study, or example and the knowledge and skill resulting from such instruction and training. By this definition, one might argue that being educated means that you are trained or specialized to do only one thing. I believe as well as many others I have talked to about this subject that an education…

Dimensional Analysis techniques is a "checklist (Jensen, 1978) that relates to Five W's and H, and is of most use as an aide memoir for initial exploration of a problem or evaluating options, particularly those associated with human relations, rather than of a technical nature" retrieved on January 29, 2006, Dimensional Analysis. By identifying the five W's (Who, What, Where, When) and H (How), this should assist in finding one solution. I think the best solution is the putting the policies…

Steve Macias Prof. Grundmeier English 1A 13 April 2015 The One Dimensional Arab Do Arab countries produce doctors, scientists, athletes, or actors? Scanning through western media reports, we might be tempted to think such occupations simply do not exist in Arabic speaking countries. Instead the phrase, “Arab” conjures images of missiles, turbans, and automatic rifles. Or perhaps we think of men laying prostrate facing Mecca or women dressed in Hijab as they veil their body in their cultural…

The video Entertainment, Consumerism & Social Control: A Simple & Fun Introduction captures the social control that the “One Dimensional Man” by Marcuse is getting at. Marcuse explains that society did not develop as Marx predicted, and individuals bought into the idea of consumption, which is alive in our culture today. The consumption of products distracts us from the reality of what class we belong to. He also brought up the idea that people weren’t aware that they were not in control when it…

The Marcusian Conceptions of Automation In his book One-Dimensional Man, Herbert Marcuse argues that automation is a centrifugal tendency that is characteristic of technology itself. For Marcuse, automation can be a benefit, but carries with it some dangerous liability. The negative aspect is that that automation has the potentiality of use by repressive forces in society viz. government, to maintain the existing conditions. In a positive sense however, automation has the ability to yield a…

Structures Analysis. The finite-element method (FEM) is a computationally method for solving partial differential equations (PDEs) with specific boundary conditions over a domain. When we applying the FEM to a domain, it has to divide to a finite number of elements and nodes. The collections of the elements and nodes form the finite-element mesh, whose quality is an important part in achieving exact numeric result for all finite-element codes. To achieve a high-quality mesh, we have to decide…
