Along with liability coverage, I also have comprehensive and collision insurance. Unlike liability coverage, both collision and comprehensive coverages are designed to pay for the repair of my vehicle if damaged in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. Collision coverages apply when my car hits a nonliving object. For collision coverages, Allstate pays for my damages when my vehicle collides with another vehicle or object, after the $500 deductible is paid out of my own pocket, the remaining damages are covered by Allstate. Comprehensive coverage ($100 deductible) on the other hand applies when the damages of my car are caused by an event other than a collision such as; fire, theft, vandalism, hitting an animal, or flood. One of the thing I like about Allstate is that it offers discounts to responsible and safe drivers. Even the most obvious things such as having passive restraints and antilock brakes can insure you some discounts off of your total premium.
