    Cesar Millan Analysis

Dogs are our best friends. Would you really want to harm you friends? That’s what Cesars method insists on doing to our canine comrades. Mark Derr should be considered correct about his accusations about dog trainer Cesar Millan because his methods harm the dogs, fails to produce lasting results, and overall, is faked by Cesar Millan. Cesar’s method should be considered wrong because it inflicts emotional and physical harm on the dog. This is apparent when Mark Derr writes “...his confrontational methods include physical and psychological intimidation, like finger jabs, choke collars, extended sessions on a treadmill and what is called flooding, or overwhelming the animal with the thing it fears…” (Derr 603). This is obviously no way to treat an animal, let alone your pet. Years of mistreatment will lead to new, unprecedented medical problems within the dog. Stress is a major problem with dogs that are mistreated. Too much stress causes the dog to snap and cloak itself in a blind rage, biting anything the dog may see in its path. This is the opposite of what a dog trainer wants, thus proving that Cesar’s methods are ineffective. As well as Cesar harming dogs, he also fails to produce lasting results on the dog. In Cesar Millan’s ways, he is only cloaking the dog's aggression with the trainers own. You cannot fight hate with hate. This is shown when Mark Derr states “...many animal behaviorists believe that in the long run meeting aggression with aggression breeds more…
