Advantageous: giving an advantage: favorable

Adventitious: accidental; connected to but nonetheless related to; irrelevant
Adverse VS. Adversity VS. Aver VS. Averse VS. Avert
Adverse: unfavorable, antagonistic

Adversity: a state, condition, or instance of serious or continued difficulty or adverse fortune

Aver: to verify or prove to be true in pleading a cause

Averse: having an active feeling of repugnance or distaste

Avert: to turn away or aside (as the eyes) in avoidance
