3. Whispered pectoriloquy (99; + = clear, loud whisper)


4. Tactile fremitus (Place ball/ulnar surface of hand on posterior chest, have pt. say "toy boat"; + = lower sound transmission)

Palpate for heaves, lifts, and thrills with ball of hand

Auscultate 6 cardiac areas with bell and diaphragm

Auscultate mitral, axillary areas in L lateral decubitus with BELL

Have pt sit up, assist

Have pt lean forward, exhale completely


Auscultate aortic, pulmonic areas

Palpate carotid pulses;


Auscultate carotid arteries for bruits (have pt hold breath)

Palpate pulses (brachial, radial, femoral, popliteal, PT, DP, foot cap refill)
