Piemonte

Nebbiolo-based Wines
*Barolo DOCG - one of the world great wines, made from 100% Nebbiolo.

- Five Barolo communes and two distinct soil types
Barolo from blue tinted Tortonian soils in La Morra is softer, fruiter and early matured style.
Barolo from Helvetian soils Monforte and Serralunga is more structural and takes longer to mature.
Barolo from Castigllione has elements from both.
Merchant blneded this wines to make tipicaly house style of Barolo.
*Barbaresco DOCG-produces Nebbiolo that once lacked the complexity, today this differences is insignificiant.
*Langhe DOC-overlaps both Barolo and Barbaresco and produced declassify Nebbiolo to this appellation, for this reason it can represent the best value in Piedmont
*Roero DOCG - antoher hill system across Tanaro with sandy soil, give more aproachible Nebbiolo.
Barbera and Dolceto-based Wines
*Barbera - high acidity, low tannin, higher capability for new oak than Nebbiolo, best results on clay soil found in Barbera d'Asti DOC
*Dolcetto - low acidity, high tannin, best consumed in its youth to enjoe its rich. Ripe damson-plum flavour.
Thrives on same limestone soil as Nebbiolo. The best comes from *Dogliani DOCG and most common is *Dolcetto d'Alba DOC
Whitre Wines
*Gavi DOCG produced exclusively from Cortese, light and fresh wine.
*Roero Arnies produced from local variety Arneis, stone fruit flavour
- Piedmont produce a significant level of sprakling wines, mush of its is sweet and made from Moscato
- Piedmont also produce vermouth in Turin, Canelli and Asti
Lombardy
