- divide in two groups
* Bordeaux Copies - same varieties, vineyards adjoin to Bordeaux region, style as Bordeaux, lower price.
* South West Wines - differ in style, varieties usualy unknown for Bordeaux vineyards, quality low price wines.

- The major appellation is Bergerac AC, which can be used fro both red and white wines make from same varieties as Bordeaux wines.
- Monbazillac AC ,good value botrysed sweet wines.
- Montravel AC , best white wines from this region
South West Wines
*Cahors AC - SE uper Lot (tributary of Garonne), wery tanninic, long-lasting, kown as "black" wines, most important grape variety is Malbec (hire known as Auxerrois) which must be present 70% in blend, other are Merlot and Tannat. There is vineyards which produce base wine for destilating Armagnac.
* Cotes de Gascogne - IGP wines (PGI), aromatic, crisp light white wine, green apple flavour, from Armagnac varieties.
* Madiran AC, - blends led with deeply coloured high tannin variety Tannat. Traditionaly need long period of bottle agening to soften tannins.
* Jurancon AC - S in the foothills of mountains, dry and sweet white wines, most iportant are complex sweet wine made from high acid variety Petit Manseng, grapes remain free of botrytis are undergo to passerillage. Pronounced apricot, grapefruit aroma, somethimes with new oak.
