1114-1076 B.C. King of Assyria. He was a conqueror.

David was a poet, he defeated the Philistines and made Jerusalam the capital. Made treaty w/ king of Tyre and got trade from Phonioia (972-922 B.C.)

Lived in the Upper-Tigris Valley. They were a blood thirsty cruel civilization. Strong military. Fierce conqueror. Used iron weapons, battle rams, horse drawn charriots. Well organized government. Used terror to rule subjects.

Zoroaster
2600 B.C. Zoroaster, a Persian religion that started teaching that people have a connection between good and evil. If you followed good god Ahura-Mazda you'd be rewarded when you died. If followed bad spirt, Ahriman, you'd be punished. Zoroaster was Persia's official religion.

Sagan's way of expressing history. Janurary 1st at 12:00:01 was big bang. September earth arrived, human recorded history is the last 10 seconds of December 31st. We think of our history as a long period, but life actually is very small compared to universe history.

Middle: (2040 B.C.) Egypt ruled from Dynasty in Thebes. Most known for culture and trade. Traded with Nubia (gold). Ended when Hyko gained power.
New: (1570 B.C.) Time of egyptian empire. Thutmorse II adds Nubia. Ramses II one of the last effective leaders.
