the phono' loop explains why the word length effect occurs- the fact that people cope better with short words than lond words in the WMM (STM) it seems the phono' loop holds the amount of information that you can say in 2 seconds, condition 1-harm twice (easier), condition 2-university, television (harder)
suppression tasks: by repeating 'la la la' while reading words ties up loop so word-length disappears.
