is the restoration of the injured/ill employee to the fullest physical, psychological, social, vocational and economic usefulness of which he/she is capable. Ideally this results in the return of the individual to their pre-injury work |

Vocational Rehab |
(VR) is a set of services offered to individuals with a disability. These services are designed to enable participants to attain skills, resources, attitudes, and expectations needed to compete in the interview process, get a job, and keep a job. Services offered may also help an individual retrain for employment after an injury or mental disorder which has disrupted previous employment |

What is workplace rehabilitation? |
Any program occurring at a workplace that has been created to help a worker safely return to employment. It maximises the worker’s independent functioning. Work’s compensation legislation nationally places great emphasis on a safe return to work. Depending on a person’s injury, rehabilitation can include such services as: physiotherapy chiropractic treatment Exercise physiology occupational therapy psychological counselling multi disciplinary programs suitable duties programs on-the-job training for new job skills special assistance for serious injuries |

Why is managing return to work important? |
The longer an injured worker is away from work the less likely it is they will return at all. Time off work due to workplace injury is a significant cost for the employer and The cost of workplace injury and illness can be managed with effective workplace rehabilitation |
