food rot on the ground the drought in 1931 made it worse for farmers Oklahoma new Mexico and Kansas was worse hit by the drought soil turned to dust causing dust storms. more the 1 million people left their homes to seek work in the west coast okies and arkies worked for very low wages resented by locals because they took all the jobs |
