Supervolcano
A very large volcano which when it explodes is thousands times more powerful than a normal volcano

EG. Yellowstone, USA
Cone volcanoes
Tend to be found on destructive plate boundaries. Tall and steep sided. Formed by acid lava which flows quickly and is viscous (sticky) The acid lava flows slowly and hardens quickly. This explains the steep sided shape of the volcanoes. They erupt violently, throwing out gas and lava bombs
Shield Volcanoes
Tend to be found at constructive boundries. Low with gentle slopes. Formed by basic lava, which is thin and runny. Basic lava spreads quickly to form low, shield volcanoes. Erupt frequently and gently.
Composite Volcanoes
Some are composed of lava and ash; others are made up of lava only. Composite Volcanoes are made up of alternating layers of lava and ash. Others are made up of lava only
