When the members of congress vote to approve the passage of a bill into a law. (Requires majority vote of the members present)
Ratify
An idea for a proposed law that hasn't yet been voted on.
Bill:
To make oral public statements that are lies in order to destroy another person's reputation
Slander:
When a newspaper, or other written publication, purposely prints lies about a person to destroy his or her reputation
Libel:
To limit or restrict access to certain information by the U.S. government, when the government violates certain First Amendment freedoms (speech and press) by not allowing the media to report certain information or not allowing certain themes in books or movies
Censorship:
A person who uses his or her First Amendment freedom of expression (speech) to openly criticize his or her leaders through the spoken or written in word.
Dissident or Dissenter:
Means to "pre-judge" an entire group of people (usually negatively) based on your knowledge of only a few individuals in that group.
Prejudice:
The opinion a person holds about whether something is good or bad that influences how they think and react to it. It is slanted, one-sided news reporting by the media to help shape the public opinion either for or against a candidate or issue
Bias:
Stereotype:
Fixed images of groups of people (mainly members of racial, religious, or ethnic minorities) which influence the way we relate to individuals within the group.
International Relations:
The relationship between the U.S. government and her allies and enemies
Domestic Issues:
The important events and issues taking place within the U.S. that are of great concern to voters
Alternative Lifestyle:
A politically correct term used to denote gay and lesbian relationships and same-sex marriges
Partisan:
When people are so strongly in favor of a candidate or a political idea that they refuse to change their mind even when if faced with new information of the contrary.
Compromise:
In politics and life, people usually never get exactly what they want. In congress Liberals and Conservatives have to be flexible or give in a little bills so tha the bills can be ratified.
Exploitation:
To be taken unfair advantage of in an economic sense
Repatriation:
U.S. policy of sending all cubans back if they are intercepted on water by U.S. coast guard
Embargo:
The government of the United States has refused to sell specific products to the communist regime in Cuba in hopes of weakening it economically. Liberals want to end the _______, saying it only hurts the average Cuban citizen, while conservatives believe it works and want to keep it in effect.
ACLU:
A group of liberal lawyers who act as a "watchdog" over the government's attempts to weaken any freedoms found in the Bill of Rights (First Amendment) - AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION
Patriot Act:
A law passed after 9/11 with bipartisan support in Congress. It was designed to make America more secure and less vulnerable to terrorist attacks
Search Warrant:
A legal document signed by the judge, giving law enforcement officials the right to search a suspects home or buisness for evidence guarenteed by the Fourth Amendment
Fourth Amendment:
Protects us against "unreasonable searches or seizures' by police and government officials.
Martial Law:
During times of Emergency, the President of the United States can suspend all constitutional freedoms and put the government in hands of the military in order to solve the problems which created the emergency. In the United States this has only been a temporary situation.
NRA:
NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION. This organization, made of law abiding gun owners, is a strong defender of the Second Amendment and believes in the individual's right to bear arms.
Repeal:
When the lawmaking body of the U.S. (congress) votes to remove an unpopular law from the public

An extreme hatred of the jewish people and their culture
