Behavior
The way an organism reacts to stimuli in its environment
Innate behavior
Instincts; appear in fully functional form even though the animal has had no previous experience with stimuli.
Learning
Changes in behavior as a result of experience
Habituation
A process by which an animal decreases or stops its response to a repetitive stimulus that neither rewards or harms the animal.
Classical conditioning
A form of learning in which a certain stimulus comes to produce a particular response
Operant conditioning
A type of learning in which an animal learns to behave in a certain way through repeated practice, to receive a reward or avoid punishment.
Insight learning
a type of behavior in which an animal applies something it has alreadly learned to a new situation, without a period of trial and errror; also called reasoning.
Imprinting
Type of behavior based on early experience, once imprinting has occurred, the behavior cannot be changed.
