Mythology

a collection of myths, especially one belonging to a particular religious or cultural tradition.

Myth

a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.

A creation myth is a symbolic narrative of how the world began and how people first came to inhabit it.

a story originating in popular culture, typically passed on by word of mouth.

Fairytale

a children's story about magical and imaginary beings and lands.

Epic poem

a long, narrative poem that is usually about heroic deeds and events that are significant to the culture of the poet

the attribution of human characteristics or behavior to a god, animal, or object.

is information passed down through the generations by word of mouth that is not written down.

Traditional knowledge

is knowledge, know-how, skills and practices that are developed, sustained and passed on from generation to generation within a community, often forming part of its cultural or spiritual identity.

Archetype

a very typical example of a certain person or thing.

Journey myth

Someone goes on a journey to solve a problem or learn a lesson. Sometimes they make it back home, sometimes they end up in the underworld or they die. Gods are often involved in helping in the journey.
