Rock Cycle
also called the geological cycle. a series of events in which a rock of one type is converted to one of more other types and then eventually back to the original type.
Sedimentary
rocks formed when sediment is deposited and becomes tightly compacted. depending on the origin of the sediments they contain , sedimentary rocks can be classified into different groups.
Igneous
rock that are formed from cooled lava or magma and minerals that crystallize.
Metamorphic
rocks are formed when igneous, sedimentary , or other metamorphic rocks undergo physical change due to extreme heat and pressure. these changes often produce folded layers or banding in the rocks, and they can also cause pockets of precious minerals to form.
Magma
hot fluid or semi-fluid material below or within the earth's crust from which lava and other igneous rock is formed by cooling
Weathering
any of the chemical or mechanical processes by which rocks exposed to the weather undergo changes in character and break down.
Erosion
the wearing away and transportation of rocks and other deposits on the earth's surface by the action of water ,ice , wind,
Crystallization
a rock formed by the solidification of a substance ; has regularly repeating internal structure ; external plane faces.
Uplift
the process or result of land being raised to a higher level , as during a period of mountain building.
Deposition
the accumulation or laying down of matter by a natural process, as the laying down of sediments in a river.
Lithification
The process by which loose mineral fragments or particles of sand are solidified into stone.
Lava
Liquid rock that flows out of the Earth's surface.
Mineral
Any of a class of naturally occurring sold inorganic substances with a characteristic crystalline form and a homogeneous chemical composition.
