Thirteenth Amendment

Fourteenth Amendment
Passed in 1868 intended to preserve the results of the Civil War by protecting the Civil Rights Act of 1866 against rejection by the U.S.Supreme Court
The right of a person to vote cannot be denied "on account of race, color, or previous condition of cervitude.
Fifteenth Amendment
People cannot be denied the right to vote because of race, color or having been enslaved.
Laws passed saying African Americans should have the same legal rights as white Americans.
The Civil Rights Act of 1866
