Battle of Bunker Hill
Was an expensive British victory on June 17, 1775. Although the British won, they lost 226 men, and more than 800 were wounded. The Americans lost 140 men, 271 were wounded, and 30 captured.

Had strong cultural and economic ties to England; they thought that social stability depended on a government anchored by monarchy and aristocracy.
Battle of York Town
Took place on October 19, 1781. Was a decisive victory that prompted the end of the Revolutionary War, because Washington and his men captured Cornwallis, and his men; this led to Britain negotiating an end to the conflict.
Ladies Association
Made up of patriot women from prominent Philadelphia families who collected money for Continental soldiers.
Benedict Arnold
A hero who betrayed the patriots by trading the plans to the West Point fort to the British. He thought he should have more honor and money.

assembled in Philadelphia on May 10, 1775, worked on raising an army and exploring reconciliation with Britain at the same time, then when peace with the king seemed impossible, delegates of the congress started thinking about declaring independence

America's formal, written document declaring themselves separate from Britain, one of main writers was Thomas Jefferson, signed by most of the delegates of the Second Continental Congress
Treaty of Fort Stanwix
Indians had taken American prisoners so Americans demanded their release and recognition of the confederation's authority to negotiate rather than individual states. Also enclosed Iroquois land, making it part of the U.S. Prisoners were released.

A Mohawk chief who wanted to side with the British.

A treaty between France and Britain that would allow troops to be withdrawn but failed to recognize the Indians as players in the conflict.
