Primary intention healing

Wound margins well approximated. Ex: sutured incision, simple laceration. More rapid healing

Secondary intention healing

Wounds such as ulcers, have un approximated edges and requires formation of granulation tissue to fill in gap

Tertiary intention wound healing

Wound is sutured closed only after long period of healing. And has more scaring than primary and secondary. Healing is delayed until infection is resolved and sutured closed to facilitate healing.

What are the 3 phases of wound healing?

Inflammatory, granulation, maturation

What is apart of the inflamation healing phase?

Lasting 3-5 days. Clot forms causing release of growth factors.

What is the granulation phase of wound healing?

New vessels and collagen structures form, wound is pink from vascularity. Epithelium begins to grow from edge to center of wound.

What is the maturation phase of healing?

May last months or years. Involves formation of scar and collagen structures.

Urge incontinence

Leaking large amounts of urine at unexpected times, including sleep.

Stress incontinence

Leaking of small amounts with movement

Over active bladder

Frequency and urgency with or without urge incontinence

Functional

Untimely intonation bc of physical disabilities, external obstacles, or cognitive problems

Overflow incontinence

Unexpected leakage of small amounts of urine because of full bladder

Mixed incontinence

Usually occurrence of stress and urge incontinence together

Transient

Leakage that occurs temporarily B&C of a situation that will pass (infection for example)

Visualization of the bladder and urethral by use of a camera inserted through the urethra
