Is abortion legal?
|
Before 1967 abortion was illegal in Britain. Many women went to 'back street abortionists'. This was dangerous and in 1967 a law came into effect which legalised abortion.
two doctors have to agree the foetus isn't viable (28 weeks changed in 1990 to 24) doctors have to consider: would the baby be handicapped? would it endanger the mother to keep the baby? would it cause suffering for other family members? |
