Calculation for number of moles
Number of moles = Mass of a substance / Molar mass
How many moles of Aluminium oxide are present in 5.1g of Al2 O3?
Molar mass = 2 x 27 + 3 x 16 = 102
5.1/102 = 0.05 moles
Calculation for number of moles( With concentration)
Number of moles = Concentration x volume (cm^3) / 1000

OR
Number of moles = concentration x volume (dm^3)
How many moles of lithium chloride are present in 25cm^3 of 1.2 mol dm^-3 solution of LiCL?
1.2 x 25 / 1000 = 0.03 moles
