A small group of powerful people that make up the governments desicions with their own benifits or religious doctrines. Membership is based on wealth, family and militiary powers

Rulers claim to represent and be directed by a set of religous ideas while laws are based on religous doctrines with unlimited goverment power

Government by the people with citizens are the unlimited source. Citizens come together to discuss on passing laws and selecting leaders. This is usually a elite-based system and works with smaller nations.

Representitive Democracy

This is a government run by people but people select representatives to represent them in government decisions


Ex) US and Ancient Rome

When a person or group of people force their way into a territory and establish a government

Divine Right Theory

God appointed a blood line to rule a state

Social Contract

A group of people or tribes agree to come together in a form of a contract

Evolutionary Theory

The state developed a primitive family or blood line to rule the nation

Unitary

Ultimate authority rests in a single central government with little or no power given to the local government

Independent states join forces by forming a central government with little power given to by the states. The states have the ultimate power in this system.

Having a head of executive elected by the people for a limited time in office.

The head(s) of executive is voted by the executive and legislative branch of the government which are combined

The ability of a government to deal with conflict internally through the concept of politics but sometimes governments might use intimidation and force

The ability of a government to protect its territory externally from threats

The governments ability to provide services like education and public policies

Provide for the Public Good

The ability of a government to give to the people as a whole but sacrifice the needs of one like taking someones house to build a highway

The government ability to make laws and police to keep the public from displaying unacceptable behaviors

The ability for people to act and think as they choose so long they don't affect the well-being of others

The principle that all people possess a fundamental, moral worth that entitles them to a fair treatment

Everyone rights are protected

The ability of 2 opposing groups to give up some of their ideas and meet in the middle to benefit both groups
