Definition- Being determined in advanced; especially the doctrine that God has foreordained every event throughout eternity (including the final salvation of mankind)
Significance- Believers felt that the way they lived their lives could reveal to them their eternal fate. Definition- Young men and women bound themselves to masters for a fixed term of servitude, in return they received passage to America, food, and shelter.
Significance- Males were supposed to receive benefits like clothing, tools, and sometimes land; however many left with out anything, unprepared and unequipped. |
