What is the cause of Type II Diabetes Mellitus?

- occurs when there is insulin deficiency
- insulin resistance in target tissues causes increased insulin requirements - reduced effectiveness of insulin is due to reduced insulin receptors in target tissues and reduced efficiency of signal transduction of insulin-receptor complexes |
