What was it?
A movement in Europe. People questioned accepted beliefs about the natural world.
Medieval View/Geocentric Theory
During the Middle Ages, most people believed that Earth was an idle object that was at the center of the universe. This was called the geocentric theory. It was supported by the Church.
Heliocentric Theory
Many scholars began to question the geocentric theory.
Nicolaus Copernicus
He reasoned that the stars, the earth and the other planets revolved around the sun. This was called the heliocentric theory.
Johannes Kepler
Added onto Nicolaus Copernicus' works after Copernicus dies. Concluded that planets revolve in elliptical shapes.
