Good evening distinguished community members; I applaud you for taking time out of your hectic schedules to listen to my presentation tonight. My name is Ali Martin, I am a senior at Rocky Mount High School and my intent is to study Elementary Education.

I am deeply passionate about the importance of technology in the classroom, and the vitality of adapting how the fundamentals of education are taught to coincide with technological advancements. Technology can only serve as an aide in educating the next generation, and should be taken full advantage of.

When I was instructed to select an individual topic for my graduation project that not only interested me at the time, but that would benefit me in the future, dissecting the different aspects of the perfect classroom seemed like an ideal fit. My research focused on the individual components that function as the building blocks of the “perfect classroom”.

When most people picture “the perfect classroom” they picture old wooden desks, alphabet letters along the ceiling, bright colorful pictures, and a classic American teacher standing in front of a gigantic black board. This is an image of the past. With technology slowly taking over every aspect of our lives, it is only fitting that educational practices evolve as well.

From the environment, to the teacher, to the technology, there are many factors that contribute to the modern “perfect classroom”. Like my \ research paper, my product, a mock virtual website, also emphasizes the vitality these few key components have on the efficiency the perfect classroom. I found that the standard tab layout allowed me to effectively illustrate and individualize the different aspects that aid in the creation of the “perfect classroom”.

”. My website is categorized into four tabs: Technological Advancements, Atmosphere/Environment, Preparing Knowledgeable Learners, and Constructive Relationships. With each categorical tabs housing relevant, explicit information. With an abundance of technological resources readily available in the classroom students are now being prepared not only to advance their education careers, but are able to grasp enormous amounts of information within seconds.

With technological advancements being such a crucial component in the creation of the classroom I felt that it deserved its own individual tab. For, when students use technology as a tool for completing complex, authentic projects that ask them to solve genuine problems and answer real questions, technology reaches its most powerful instructional potential. However I felt my other tabs were a little more self-explanatory.

Although, technology is the major contributor to the perfect classroom, behavior, student teacher relationships, and classroom set up has a bigger impact on learning than most people expect. With the expectation of developing knowledgeable learners that are technologically skilled, educators need to be devoted to developing a students’ full potential. I felt that creating a virtual mock website would be a tremendous asset in helping my self and others understand the components that go into creating the perfect classroom.

I successfully accomplished my mock virtual website through the free online database Wix. Once I discovered how to successfully maneuver through the database I reread my research paper and pulled relevant information that pertained to the construction of my website. I then assembled the individual tabs and inserted the desired information.

Once I was confident that I had effectively illustrated the different aspects of the “perfect classroom”, I added a mute background that allowed for the information to be the main focus. With all of the changes made to the guidelines of the graduation project I struggled choosing a product idea. After several failed individual attempts, I worked with my teacher to pick a product idea that not only fit the guidelines but allowed me to illustrate my research topic proficiently.

Although I experienced unfortunate technical complications while assembling my product, I am very pleased with its outcome. I faced many trials and tribulations while trying to effectively navigate Wix, which proved not to be very user friendly. Toward the end of the process I unfortunately had to completely recreate my virtual mock website after experience problems efficiently saving and publishing my work.

Even though I created a mock website, if giving the opportunity to make my website accessible to the general public I believe that it would serve as a guide on how to behave in and assemble a classroom. After having completed both my research paper, product, and now finally presenting my speech, I feel very accomplished. I now not only know that I am capable for successful completing a task of this magnitude, but that I can be completely self-sufficient if necessary.

This experience has provided me with a tremendous amount of beneficial knowledge. This project has helped me learn how to effectively construct a virtual web database, organize my thoughts, and has tremendously improved my time management skills. I am very pleased with both my paper and my product; I believe that they will aid me in my future career, allowing me to have a better understanding of how I should assemble my own classroom when I become a teacher.

Although the idea of the “perfect classroom” seems like an easy dream to accomplish we are still years away. Without the full support of every school in America and their advisers, there is no way to move forward or change education.
