What are the functions of the coronary arteries and veins? |
They supply the heart with oxygenated blood and take away the deoxygenated blood so that the heart has its own blood supply. |
|
Which ventricle has thicker walls and why is this so? |
The left ventricle wall is thicker because it pumps blood a much greater distance than the right ventricle does. The thicker walls generate more power to pump the blood around the whole body. |
|
What is the function of the tendons that connect the AV valves and the ventricle walls? |
They stop the AV valves from inverting when the ventricles contract so that blood doesn't flow back to the atria. |
