What is the cerebrum and what is it responsible for?

The largest part of the brain, responsible for higher brain function such as thought or action. Divided into four lobes: frontal lobe, occipital lobe, parietal lobe and temporal lobe.

What is the frontal lobe's function and position?

Associated with reasoning, planning, parts of speech, movement, emotions, and problem solving. Located at the front of the brain.

What is the occipital lobe's function and position?

associated with visual processing, at the back of the head.

What is the temporal lobe's function and position?

associated with perception and recognition of auditory stimuli, memory, and speech. Lower section of the brain.

What is the parietal lobe's function and position?

associated with movement, orientation, recognition, perception of stimuli. Positioned at the top towards the back.

Why is the brain wrinkled?

To increase its surface area for neurons.

What is the cerebellum and what is its function?

The cerebellum is a smaller version of the cerebrum, located just below the cerebrum at the back. It is responsible for regulation and coordination of movement, posture, and balance.

What is the brain stem and what is its function?

The stem coming out from the brain. It is responsible for basic function such as breathing, heartbeat, and blood pressure.

What is the medulla oblongata's function and location?

It is between the pons and the spinal cord. It relays messages and maintains vital functions.

What is the pons' function?

It is involved in motor control and sensory analysis.

What is the midbrain's function?

It is involved in functions such as vision, hearing, eyemovement, and body movement.
