1st General Order of a Sentry
Take charge of this post and all government property in view.
2nd General Order of a Sentry
Walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
3rd General Order of a Sentry
Report all violations of the orders I am instructed to enforce.
4th General Order of a Sentry
Repeat all calls more distant from the guardhouse than my own.
5th General Order of a Sentry
Quit my post only when properly relieved.
6th General Order of a Sentry
Receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Deck, and Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the watch only.
7th General Order of a Sentry
Talk to no one except in the line of duty.
8th General Order of a Sentry
Give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
9th General Order of a Sentry
Call the Officer of the Deck in any case not covered by instructions.

Salute all Officers and all colors and standards not cased.

Be especially watchful at night and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post, and allow no one to pass without proper authority.

1st Article of the Code of Conduct
I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
2nd Aritcle of the Code of Conduct
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command. I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.
3rd Article of the Code of Conduct
If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
4th Article of the Code of Conduct
If I become a prisoner of War (POW), I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information nor take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.
5th Article of the Code of Conduct
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.
6th Article of the Code of Conduct
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

Endurance is the mental and physical stamina measured by the ability to withstand pain, fatigue, stress, and hardship.
Bearing
Bearing is creating a favorable impression of carriage, appearance, and personal conduct at all times.
Unselfishness
Unselfishness is the avoidance of providing for one's own comfort and personal advancement at the expense of others.
Courage
Courage is the mental quality that recognizes fear of danger and criticism, but enables a man to proceed in the face of it with calmness and firmness.
Knowledge
Knowledge is the understanding of a science or an art. Including professional knowledge and an understanding of your sailors.
Loyalty
Loyalty is the quality of faithfulness to the navy, the unit, to one's seniors, suboordinates, and peers.
Enthusiasm
Enthusiasm is the display of sincere interest and exhuberance in the performance of duty.
