Myelination
The process by which axons become coated with myelin, a fatty substance that speeds the transmission of nerve impulses from neuron to neuron.
Corpus callosum
A long, thick band of nerve fibers that connects the left and right hemispheres of the brain and allows communication between them.
Lateralization

Literally means sideness. Each half of the brain has specific and distinct responsibilities. The left hemisphere is responsible for the right side of the body as well as logical reasoning, detailed analysis, and basics of language. The right hemisphere is responsible for the left side of the body as well as emotion and creativity.

At age 6

Kids look lean, 40-50 pounds, 3.5 feet tall, adult-like body proportions.

75% of the brain is developed by age 2. After age 2 the prefrontal cortex matures drastically, distinguishing the social aspect of humans.

Ability to postpone or deny immediate behavior to an idea or behavior; sustained.
